These kids today

Well, today is officially Halloween, but I seriously doubt I’ll be doing much more celebrating. Jennifer and I went out Saturday night, and again last night. Adding the fact that I’m getting old, I’m feeling fairly partied out. How old? My knees hurt from dancing. Yeah, I’m not too happy with that little development. At least it’s not back hair.As you can see from the photos, we dressed as Bonnie & Clyde. She looked much more like Faye Dunaway’s Bonnie than I did as Warren Beatty’s Clyde. You might say that I look just as much like Warren Beatty as Warren Beatty looks like the original Clyde, so in that sense, it all works out. (Awesome movie, by the way.)

Incidentally, this was the first year in some time that I’ve actually enjoyed Halloween. Living in Isla Vista, I’ve grown to despise this particular holiday. For those who aren’t in the Santa Barbara loop, Isla Vista’s Halloweens are notorious, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Of course, it’s the 20,000 or so “visitors” who mostly screw it up for the rest of us. If you live in Isla Vista, it’s pretty much a game of “dodge the mob”. And good luck at getting food at any local restaurants. Sunday morning, at about 1:30am, there was a line of no less than 100 people in front of the local burrito joint. The whole thing seems like a whole ‘lotta work for not that much fun - although the dried vomit we discovered in front of Jennifer’s car this morning might indicate otherwise.

It’s just not my scene. I really need to leave here before I start answering the door in a tank top and boxer shorts, throwing empty beer cans at freshman while screaming, “Get off my lawn!” Actually, it might already be too late.
