NonDescript Playlist: 11 March 2008

You may have noticed the Last.FM playlist over in the sidebar. I’m not entirely sold on this “feature” yet. You have to click on the large “play” icon to get it going, and while you can listen to the songs in their entirety, you cannot click on a specific song. You have to cycle through the playlist. The necessity of this explanation alone may make this “feature” more trouble than it’s worth.

Also, if you do purchase a song on the playlist, I receive exactly $0.00 (absolutely nothing). I don’t know if that’s an incentive to buy or not.

It’s an experiment - which may very well be gone sooner than later, and which speaks nothing of my fondness for Last.FM (which I do think is pretty cool for a social networking site). We’ll see how it goes…

Here’s the playlist for this week’s show.

Listen via the player on my website’s sidebar or one of KCSB’s webcast options.

Pass on this gas!

sbgas.jpgI took this photo Friday, March 7th. Granted, it’s known as one of the most, if not the most, expensive gas stations in Santa Barbara County. However, it’s not even Spring, and we’re already looking at a top price per gallon of a literal fraction under $4.00. It’s enough to make you want to pull your hair out.

And speaking of record profits for the oil companies, I can’t help but post a short quote (from Big Oil’s Record Profit Inspires Democrats to Seek $1.8 Billion, Bloomberg.com, 10 March 2008):

Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips reported earnings of almost $10 million an hour in the fourth quarter.

It’s their little way of saying, “Go fuck yourself, America! P.S. Thanks for the oil wars!”.

The article goes on to talk about the Congressional Democrats plan to cut the tax breaks given to oil companies, fueled (ha!) by the Democrats’ concern over the record profits earned by oil companies at the expense of the American consumer. They plan to “repeal a tax credit for domestic oil and natural-gas production and roll back a break for income from foreign crude…” Bwah ha he ha ha he he! My sides hurt! Oh… my sides hurt!

Oh, those Democrats really had me going there, for a moment - all this talk about “doing something” and all. Good one, guys!

I had to get things done a bit early this week, as my entire department has to attend a two day, all day, work retreat on conflict resolution. You are SO jealous of me right now.

Introducing… Bob Sanchez!

Our family here at CoolMojo.Net has just gotten one bigger. A dear friend, Bob Sanchez, is joining our little crew, and you can keep up with him at http://bobsanchez.coolmojo.net. I should mention that Bob Sanchez is an alias, and that he will be blogging anonymously under that alias, so I’ll let him go into the details of how him and I know each other - if he so chooses.

You’ll also notice that both Jennifer’s and Bennett’s websites have under gone a make-over - with the hopes that either (or both) of them will get into the habit of blogging regularly. I can dream, can’t I?
