Finding Sarah Palin…

For those of you, like myself, who muscled through the vice-presidential debate last Thursday thinking you understood the purposes of punditry and political discourse only to find the post-debate analysis to contain headlines like “For Palin, A Tie is a Win” and “Palin avoids questions, wins debate“, I am just as frustrated. Frankly, she did not exceed my expectations, although I, unlike everyone else, did not expect her to consume a live puppy during Thursday’s festivities. Nor did a expect a repeat of horrific Katie Couric interview, which, of course, was all Katie Couric’s fault. How dare she ask direct and relevant questions?

During the debate, Sarah Palin did exactly what I thought she’d do - she avoided answering direct questions, proved that the vice-presidency is way out of her league, and demonstrated an amazing strength and personality - a strength and personally that allows her to be completely ignorant of important issues without causing her the slightest bit of concern. After all, a wink and a smile solves everything - kind of like Jedi Mind Trick from Star Wars, without all of that “who’s your daddy” baggage. Well… almost.

And for those of you, like myself, who had an impossible time making sense of Palin’s responses (I wouldn’t go so far as to call them answers), I pass along to you the Sarah Palin Debate Flow Chart. If only we would have had it Thursday…

NonDescript Money: 30 September 2008

Since everyone LOVES hearing about the economy, I decided to reinforce the misery by doing an entire show full of songs all about money - since it seems that money is something that very few of us will be seeing again for a long, long time.

The show airs Tuesdays @ 9am PDT. Listen live on KCSB-FM 91.9 in Santa Barbara, or via KCSB’s webcast. Or sign up for the podcast below.

Back from Yosemite…

We’re back from our four-day trip to Yosemite National Park. If you haven’t visited Yosemite, and I hadn’t until this trip, you really should. It’s quite the amazing place, even if the waterfalls were fairly dry - a rarity even for this time of year. Still, it was nice to get away from the laptop and the cellphone for a few days - and I even enjoyed our hike up Lembert Dome. And I’m not exactly what one would call a “hiker”. Anyway, it’s back to the grind…

Photos from our trip are here.

NonDescript Playlist: 02 September 2008

The playlist for this week.

I’m leaving for a week-long camping trip in Yosemite National Park on Thursday. There’s a 50-50% chance that I’ll be able to get pre-produce a show next week. The show website will have it up on Monday.

The show airs Tuesdays @ 9am PDT. Listen live on KCSB-FM 91.9 in Santa Barbara, or via KCSB’s webcast. Or sign up for the podcast below.
